The experience of natural design

My Avatara design floor 3.0

ter Hürne Design for your well-being home

We design products for your living space. In doing this, we follow the design principle: easy to install, long-lasting in use and naturally beautiful. Our product design combines function and aesthetics.

Although there is no standard for ‘beautiful’, it is a principle that inspires us here at ter Hürne. Preserve the original. Try something new. And combine the two.

Symbiosis of nature and technology

How is the decor image created?

The process starts with the development of decors by the designers. They determine the colour, structure or features such as knots. The production of the decor image can be compared with the printing of the page of a newspaper. A roller prints the same content onto paper at regular intervals. We call this rotary printing. Obviously, this results in repetitions.

The production of rollers for decor printing is expensive. As a result, often only a few rollers are used per decor image. What is desirable in newspaper printing appears disruptive and unnatural here: striking features of the decor image that appear repeatedly in the floor. The alternative: Decor developers avoid these distinctive features to prevent the visible repetition effect in the floor surface.

Digital printing technology largely overcomes the ‘law of repetition’. Decor developers have greater creative scope and can express things that go beyond the limitations of rotary printing: decors that look natural on the installed surface.

DIGITALDRUCK IN HD-QUALITÄT

Matt looks more natural

Lacquers vary in their differing degrees of mattness. From high gloss or matt to extra matt lacquers, they all create their own style. The more glossy, the more sophisticated the surface looks. But: wood is not naturally glossy. Floors look more natural when the lacquer has a matter sheen.

To make Avatara as natural-looking as possible, we apply a matt finish to our surfaces.

SURFACE STRUCTURES
Feel the difference – experience nature

Register embossed pore structure

The structure and the decor image match each other exactly. The hand feels what the eye sees. Only in that moment when seeing and feeling are one is the perfect combination created in perfect harmony. The selected decors of our floors possess this unique design feature of the register embossed surfaces.

Brushed structure

Taking natural wood as our model, we emphasise the structures which are harder in wood. You see a surface that appears brushed: just as in the natural material, the areas that are softer appear slightly deeper. In this way we accentuate knots, for example.

Stone structure

Taking natural stone as our example, we use natural-looking surface structures. We draw on traditional craft processes for this. These range from broken/coarse to sanded designs. We modelled the latter on an old way of grinding stones with water and sand.
OUR PLANK FORMATS AND DESIGNS
The right dimension for your sense of spaciousness

Classic timber floors comprise long wooden elements. They differ according to the formats and the laying patterns of these elements. They also differ between themselves in their length and width.
