Smart floors for your smart home
DID YOU KNOW?
The connection makes the difference
The ease or otherwise of installing engineered hardwood flooring is largely to do with the connection system. Meaning: the profiling of the planks that holds them together.
Depending on the manufacturer and system, there are significant differences, that become apparent during the installation. This is noticeable in terms of the time and effort required as well as the quality of the installed floor. In some systems, the planks click together with no need for tools. These are in contrast to the tongue and groove systems where the planks are tapped into each other.
Is this the first time you have installed a floor on your own? Then we advise you to go for a click system. If you have already had some practice, then both systems are suitable for you.
We have made our engineered hardwood flooring planks 'smart'. With our CLICKitEASY connection technology, the planks simply click together – a little like LEGO® bricks. It is quick and the planks are securely connected to each other. The installed floor looks great.

DID YOU KNOW?
Strength sits centrally
How does an expert recognise well-made 3-layer engineered hardwood flooring? He checks the middle layer. This is the supporting layer that makes up the largest part of the engineered hardwood flooring. Spruce is often used for this. The quality of the material can be determined by the annual growth rings. If the rings are ‘standing’ then the spruce wood of the middle layer is particularly stable and shrinks considerably less than where the rings are flat.
At ter Hürne, we use only the middle layers with fine-grained, standing annual growth rings from sustainable forestry. This ensures maximum dimensional stability with low swelling and shrinkage. That is only one example of the hidden technical characteristics of our engineered hardwood flooring

THE SURFACE FINISH
Smartly protected
We apply oil or lacquer to the surfaces of our engineered hardwood flooring. It provides protection and makes the engineered hardwood flooring impervious to the rigours of daily use.
Depending on the finish, it emphasises the appearance of the colours, structures and contours in different ways.

Lack

IMPREGNATED
If things do get wet
Our smart solution to the problem: where the planks or slats meet, we protect our wood floors with an additional healthy home environment water-repellent emulsion. This makes it a lot harder for moisture to penetrate the wood. While no engineered hardwood flooring can tolerate being wet for a long time, with our impregnation, our engineered hardwood flooring can forgive a spilled glass of water without problems.
CONNECTION SYSTEMS
The most pleasing harmony is created by bringing together opposites
The mark of a properly installed floor is the flawless way the planks join with each other. Otherwise, unsightly joints will subsequently appear in the installed floor, spoiling its appearance.
CONNECTION TECHNOLOGY GUIDE
Glue down or floating installation?
Answer: both are possible. But which is the better option depends on what is important for you. The choice is yours.
SUITABLE FOR UNDERFLOOR HEATING SYSTEMS
Best friends for toasty toes
Your ter Hürne floor and the underfloor heating system make a great team.
The underfloor heating system penetrates the floor well and distributes the heat optimally in the room. The choice is yours: Whether your underfloor heating system is hot water-based or electric, your new floor will get on well with both of them. With electric underfloor heating, you should bear in mind they use gentle warm-up technology and a temperature control unit.
