At home with the Hermanns family
From an old, damp apartment – to a healthy home environment of their own: For the Hermanns family – that’s parents Thomas and Anja (42 and 39) and their two children Tim and Carla (7 and 3) – it’s a dream come true.
ter Hürne: Anja, Thomas, you’ve now been living in your dream home for just over three years. How’s it going?
Thomas: We are really pleased that we managed to get this plot not far from the nursery and school. The flat in Münster, where we were living before, was much too small.
Anja: We had real problems with damp and also mould. We were all regularly getting colds. For us, one thing was certain: if we build, it will only be with materials that are good for us. That runs through the whole house.
The impulsive character of the grade of the wood stands out. The second-hand furniture and panelled doors contrast well with the rustic look of the wood on the floor.

What was particularly important for you when choosing your floor?
Thomas: Here too, it was a case of no plastic. It was therefore clear that we would go for engineered hardwood flooring – throughout the whole house, except for the bathroom and kitchen. Engineered hardwood flooring is pure nature. It's as good as it gets. We value the exceptional and pleasant warmth of real wood.
Why did you choose this Unique floor?
Thomas: Our floor looks really rustic and original. Even hand-scraped oak with an impulsive grade.

Describe your own furnishing style.
Anja: Comfort and well-being are important to us. We simply love a beautiful interior that has personal meaning. For example, our old furniture is from the flea market in the Netherlands and the paintings came from my mother.

We develop the natural characteristics plank by plank and accentuate them by hand. Each plank becomes a hand-finished and valuable unique piece. For a well-being floor with incomparable design and great appeal.
